The Centre for Corrosion Studies (C2S) is an independent research, education, and professional development initiative dedicated to advancing corrosion science, asset integrity, and infrastructure resilience across Ghana and Africa.
Corrosion remains one of the world's most costly engineering challenges, affecting infrastructure, industrial facilities, transportation systems, energy assets, and public safety. Yet awareness of corrosion engineering remains limited within many academic and professional communities across the continent.
C2S was established to bridge this gap — promoting corrosion awareness, supporting technical education, disseminating research knowledge, and connecting students, researchers, and industry professionals.
Through research communication, professional development programs, technical events, and industry engagement, the Centre seeks to build the next generation of corrosion professionals while contributing to the protection of critical infrastructure throughout Africa.
Founded in 2026, C2S began as a vision of its founder, Isaac Otu, who recognized the urgent need for corrosion awareness and capacity building in Ghana. With a background in materials engineering and experience in the oil and gas sector, Isaac saw that while corrosion costs billions globally, African engineers often graduate without ever studying it. C2S was born to change that.
We are proud to launch our inaugural webinar on 27 June 2026 — a free event open to students, engineers, and professionals across Africa. This marks the beginning of our journey to build a community of corrosion-aware practitioners.
Today, C2S is growing its network of partners across academia, industry, and government to make corrosion engineering a recognised and respected discipline in Africa.
